Very well preserved case with very light signs of polishing probably done by Rolex service center. Overall condition is very good for its age. Inner case back stamped 6263.

Catalogue Note

With a Rolex warranty and a presentation box.

Released circa 1972 the Daytona Ref.6263 featuring an Oyster case with screw-down back, crown and chronograph buttons and fitted with a black acrylic calibrated bezel remained in production until circa 1987. The combination of a black dial with white subsidiary dials and red large print 'Daytona' text have given this model combination the affectionate moniker  ‘Big Red’ by collectors. Although the famous American actor Paul Newman has received a Daytona dial variation named after him, on a daily basis since he became enthused with motorsports racing in the early 1970s and until his death in 2008, he regularly wore a Ref.6263 black dial ‘Big Red’ given to him by his wife Joanne Woodwood and engraved on the reverse ‘Drive Slowly’.
