Catalogue Note
In 2000 Rolex launched a new Daytona featuring an in-house calibre automatic chronograph movement for the first time. The model was available in stainless steel on a bracelet as reference.116520, or in yellow or white gold exclusively on a leather strap with gold folding buckle as references 116518 and 116519 respectively. It wasn't until Basel 2004 that Rolex released a white gold Daytona on a bracelet featuring a new reference, 116509. This example was manufactured as a white gold Ref.116519 on a leather strap and at the owners request, new end pieces were custom made to secure under the bezel then fitted to a rhodium plated yellow gold Rolex bracelet.
