Condition

Movement is in working order while cataloguing, but it has not been tested for the accuracy of time keeping and a service might be required at the buyer's expense. The dial is in good condition and shows a few light spots from normal ageing oxidation. Case with slight scuffs throughout, composite crystal. **The strap of this wristwatch is made from an endangered species, please refer to important notices for further information**.

Catalogue Note

Johanna Martzy (b.1924-1979), thence by descent. Of Hungarian origin, Miss Martzy was celebrated as one of the best violinists of her time. She toured internationally, playing in Budapest, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Holland, and England, as well as in South Africa, Australia, North and South American, most notably in the United Stated, in New York, where she played with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. She established a reputation as both a talented soloist and chamber music artist. Since her death in 1979, her recordings have gained an increased following.
