• Patent no 6776 cylinder movement, pinned barrel musical mechanism with 31 tuned teeth to the steel comb • glazed cuvette • eccentric white enamel dial, Roman numerals, pierced gold hands, musical trophy painted below the dial with foliate boarder • stain-finished gun metal case, pink gold slide to the band to activate music, embossed gilt plaque to the back depicting the Swiss legendary figure of William Tell in a landscape
Condition
The movement is running and the music plays well at the time of cataloguing however it may benefit from a service soon. Dial with slight hairline below VII but overall in good condition. There are some slight scuffs to the case but overall it is in good condition.

The legend of William Tell was first recorded in the late 15th century, coinciding with the period of the founding of the Swiss Confederacy. Tell is the central figure of Swiss patriotism with the famous apple-shot of his crossbow. The legend of William Tell grew even stronger during the restoration of the Confederacy after the Napoleonic era.
