Catalogue Note

Haas Neveux & Cie., Geneva, founded in 1848 by Benjamin Haas, is one of the oldest manufacturers in Switzerland. While they devoted a great deal of attention to the style of their watches, in the form of the pendants, bracelets, rings, etc., Haas Neveux & Cie. always remained at the forefront of the construction of high-precision chronometers, obtaining prizes from the Geneva Observatory. For example, in 1914 at the Geneva Observatory, one of their chronometers won 879 points, a result that was never again attained until 1925, and remains the world record for adjustment. Their increasing reputation led the company at the time to open a store on Fifth Avenue in New York in the early 1920's.
