la ceinture ornée de rosettes inscrites dans une frise de postes et une frise de godrons, reposant sur deux montants balustre ornés de feuilles, sommé chacun de trois enroulements et reposant chacun sur une plinthe en bois naturel mouluré ; dessus de marbre vert antique ceint d'une frise de perles en bronze doré
Condition
The illustration is accurate. Good overall condition despite the usual minor chips and marks throughout the gilding.
Both marble tops are slightly scratched as expected.
As visible on the illustration, a small wooden square foot is missing on a base of a column (p.195).

Catalogue Note
Le piètement original de cette paire de consoles puise son inspiration dans les dessins des ornemanistes du renouveau classique comme Lalonde ou Prieur. La forme du fût en balustre se retrouve sur une console d'époque Louis XVI autrefois dans la collection Jacques Doucet (reproduite ci-contre). Le plateau est, comme sur notre paire de consoles, supporté par des volutes en enroulement.
