Condition
There is some minor surface dirt and scratches, and some natural veining to the marble. Her eyelids have been restored with a marble filling, which can be removed and properly restored. Very good condition overall.

Catalogue Note
Sculpteur originaire de Marseille, il fut d'abord élève de Jean-Jacques Caffieri puis remporta le premier prix de sculpture en 1769. De retour à Paris, après être resté quatre années pensionnaire de l'Académie de France à Rome , Foucou est nommé académicien en 1785. Il exposa aux salons de 1771 à 1814 et participa à de nombreuses commandes officielles et, notamment, pour le Panthéon, le Musée des Monuments français ou l'Arc de triomphe du Caroussel .
