Designed as a serpent composed of scaled links, the mouth suspending a baroque pearl measuring approximately 18.0 by 11.2 mm, the pearl and eyes set with rose-cut diamonds, gross weight approximately 88 dwts, total length including pearl 35 inches, composed of six sections measuring 7½, 1½, 12, 7½, 1½ and 5 inches, signed Janesich, numbered 16251, with French assay and workshop marks; circa 19th century.
Condition
In good condition with some patches of discoloration commensurate with age. Nicely flexible and can be wrapped to be worn at varying lengths. Also detachable into six segments for different uses of wear. The baroque pearl presents a creamy white to silvery gray range of body colors, with soft green and blue overtones. Fair to good luster and some significant cavities and examples of pitting and wrinkled skins. The diamonds are near colorless and decorative in quality. Please note that the pearl has not been tested for natural origin.
