Gold, Emerald and Pearl Brooch, Carlo Giuliano

Of openwork design, the circular motif suspending a fringe of swag design, set with 16 pearls and accented by 25 emerald and cushion-cut emeralds, gross weight approximately 19 dwts, signed C.G. for Carlo Giuliano; circa 1865.

In good condition with some discoloration to the gold commensurate with wear and age. The emeralds are medium to medium-light slightly bluish green, moderately to heavily included with examples of surface-reaching inclusions and abrasions to the facet junctions. The pearls range from creamy to silvery white with moderate rose overtones, good luster and minor blemishing such as cracking and peeling skins. Signed on an applied plaque on the reverse. Length approximately 3 1/4 inches. Please note that the pearls have not been tested for natural origin.
