The double strand necklace composed of 108 cultured pearls measuring approximately 7.4 to 6.8 mm, spaced at intervals by 14 beryl beads measuring approximately 13.0 to 10.3 mm and 28 jade beads measuring approximately 7.5 mm, completed by a gold openwork clasp decorated with a ruby, sapphires and emeralds carved with foliate motifs, length 25 inches, signed Seaman Schepps.

Condition

In good condition overall with light discoloration to the gold commensurate with wear. The round cultured pearls range from a silvery to a silvery creamy white with strong rose and moderate green overtones. Good luster and minute blemishing in the form of pitting and wrinkled skins. The beryl beads range from light blue to brownish green, moderately to heavily included with examples of surface reaching fractures and some exposed cracks throughout. The jade beads are light green and opaque, with darker mottling. The carved ruby is medium deep slightly pinkish red and heavily included with surface reaching fractures. The carved sapphires are a deep violetish blue, heavily included and translucent to semi-translucent. The carved emeralds are medium-light bluish green and heavily included with several surface-reaching fractures. Signed on the tongue of the clasp.
