Description

  • gold, silver, diamond, pearl
Designed as a floral spray set with four pearls measuring approximately 10.9 by 6.6 by 6.1 mm to 9.8 by 6.5 by 4.9 mm, accented by numerous old mine, old European and rose-cut diamonds weighing approximately 10.85 carats; brooch fitting detachable, two small diamonds missing, circa 1870.

Condition

In fair condition commensurate with age. The baroque pearls are a creamy white with soft rose and green overtones, wrinkled skins. The diamonds are approximately H-J color, SI clarity overall with a few I clarity examples. The brooch has been rhodium-plated, but the original silver and gold mount shows through where the plating has worn away. Many of the prongs have been the repaired and the reverse of the brooch has solder at most of the joints. One end of the brooch has the remains of what looks to be the original brooch fitting, the current pin was probably added later. Fitted with carrier chain.
