Description

  • Van Cleef & Arpels
  • gold, diamond, ruby, wood
Designed as a dragon, the body composed of wood carved to resemble scales, the face and wings accented with round diamonds weighing approximately .50 carat, with two cabochon ruby eyes, signed VCA NY, numbered IKI02.26 and 35. With signed box.

Condition

In good condition. The wood is a very dark brown and looks like it has been lacquered to deepen the color and add shine. The 24 diamonds are approximately F-G color, VVS-VS clarity. The ruby cabochon eyes are medium slightly purplish red and moderately included with some small suface reaching fractures. The gold is slightly tarnished at the top of the dragon's head, but this could be removed with a thorough cleaning.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. Our presale estimates reflect this assumption.
