The first clip-brooch designed as a carved coral buddha topped by a pearl and decorated with two cabochon sapphires, a cabochon emerald and two round diamonds, mounted in 14 karat gold, signed Seaman Schepps; together with a carved amethyst clip-brooch depicting a fish holding a pearl, with two round diamonds and cabochon rubies, emeralds and moonstones, mounted in 14 karat gold, signed Seaman Schepps.

Condition

Both clip-brooches in good condition. BUDDHA: The coral is a medium-deep orangy red with evidence of chipping and discoloration to the stone; the carved statue exhibitng a coral-colored wax-like filler on its reverse. The near round pearl is silvery white with pink and green overtones, exhibiting good luster and minute blemishing to the skin. Please note that the pearl has not been tested for natural origin. The two cabochon sapphires are a richly satured medium-deep slightly violetish blue, moderately included with no visible fractures. The cabochon emerald is medium light slightly bluish green, moderately included with evidence of surface reaching inclusions. The two diamonds are approximately I-K color, VS clarity. FISH: The amethyst is discolored, ranging from medium-deep purple to light purplish gray, heavily included with examples of surface reaching inclusions and abrasions at the facet junctions. Chipping throughout the surface. The round pearl is creamy white with some evidence of discoloration. Minute to moderate blemishing in the form of uneven skins, pitting and peeling. Please note that the pearl has not been tested for natural origin. The two diamonds are approximately G-J color, VS clarity. The cabochon rubies range from medium-deep slightly pinkish red to orangy red, heavily included with examples of surface reaching inclusions. The cabochon emeralds are medium light green and heavily included with evidence of cavities and abrading at the facet junctions. The moonstone presents an adularescence of predominantly grayish blue color. Please note that neither of the brooches is by David Webb as suggested by the printed catalogue.
