Catalogue Note
Although this table is comparable with work produced by Swedish-born furniture maker Georg Haupt, the use of pine and oak as secondary woods in combination with an extremely fine and intricate inlay close to Northern Italian marquetry refers to a more central European origin. With their elegantly restrained form and precise chasing, the ormolu mounts relate to the oeuvre of the Viennese court bronzier and silversmith Joseph Ignaz Wurth (d.1792).
