Catalogue Note
Epreuve réalisée à l'occasion de la parution du portfolio collectif de soixante-neuf artistes Hommage à Pablo Picasso, 1973, Propylaen Press à Berlin, afin de célébrer le quatre-vingt-dixième anniversaire de l'artiste en 1971. C'est en 1972 que Richard Hamilton découvre pour la première fois Les Ménines de Velasquez, et qu'il tombe en admiration. Le désir de s'en inspirer pour cet ouvrage collectif lui parait donc tout à fait naturel, à l'image de Picasso qui, entre août et décembre 1957, en réalise pas moins de quarante-quatre analyses.
