    inscribed, probably by the artist, in pen and brown ink: estate and in a later hand: Romanelli.

Catalogue Note

Attributed to Mirabello Cavalori by Ralph Holland on the basis of comparison with drawings in the Louvre and at Christ Church, this work seems more likely to be by an artist active in Rome around 1600 with knowledge of the work of the Alberti and the Zuccari.
