Catalogue Note
Lawrence Turčić (loc. cit.) identified this as a preparatory study, with some differences, for Lomi's painting in the Pucci chapel of SS. Annunziata, Florence, which can be dated between 1607 and 1611.1 Carofano suggests that the placement of the Castel Sant'Angelo in the background of the painting might be a tribute to Cardinal Pucci, who died in Rome in 1607.
