Condition

Hinged in a few places to the modern backing sheet. Some very slight beige staines at the bottom and towards the top edges, not very visible. Overall pen and ink and wash quite fresh.

James Byam Shaw noted that the present study is in the same technique and of the same shape and very similar dimensions as one in the Frits Lugt Collection, Fondation Custodia, Paris, and therefore that they may have been for the same commission.1
