Catalogue Note

It has not been possible to find an attribution for this attractive drawing, which was clearly made by an artist in the circle of Carlo Maratta.  Ralph Holland proposed an attribution to Giovanni Maria Morandi (1622-1717), a Florentine artist who moved to Rome and became the director of the Accademia di San Luca.
