- Circle of Giovanni Lanfranco
- design for the decoration of a cornice, with allegorical figures holding a harp and a trumpet, centaurs and other figures
- Pen and brown ink and grey wash, heightened with white and grey, over black chalk, on buff paper;
bears inscription in pen and brown ink on the back of the old mount: Alvise dal Friso and in black chalk in a later hand: G. Lanfranco

Condition
Laid down. Top corners replaced with rather thick paper. Central vertical fold and fold across top. Bottom right corner repaired. Small hole top right and bottom left corner. Other creases and small tears.

Catalogue Note
This is somewhat reminiscent of Lanfranco's decorations in the Quirinal Palace, Rome. It is interesting to note that an earlier collector also saw the connection to Lanfranco.
