Condition
Laid down. A cut out and made up pentimento by the artist for the entire figure of Joachim. Some losses of the white heightening throughout and some rubbing, but overall in good condition and quite fresh.

Catalogue Note
This handsome and finished drawing by Lazzaro Baldi can be compared in style and technique to other drawings by the artist. Although still Cortonesque, this shows a freer handling and a very pictorial use of the media with plenty of white bodycolour. Comparable sheets in Düsseldorf are: St. Rosa of Lima, St. Pedro de Alcàntara in Glory, St. Maria Maddalena de'Pazzi and The Glory of St. Gaetano Thiene.1
