Catalogue Note
Ralph Holland identified the sculpture as one which passed from the Farnese Collection to the Museo Archeologico, Naples (Inv. no. 5960). According to the old inscription on the drawing, it came from the Theatre of Pompey, near Campus Martius. It probably dated from the 2nd century A.D. and probably represented a Muse, but was subsequently restored to represent Urania.
