Catalogue Note

Skippe's attribution to Carlo Maratta was maintained by A.E. Popham in the sale catalogue.  Ralph Holland, however, saw the drawing as close to Lodovico Carracci.  An attribution to Faccini seems appropriate, particularly because of the outlining of the slightly eccentric forms of the body.

A very similar oil on paper of a nude youth was sold London, Christie's, 6 July 2004 as Pietro Faccini, an attribution accepted by Mario Di Giampaolo.
