Folio (434 x 295mm.), 86 hand-coloured lithographed plates by Bourgeois (83) and Thiénon (3), printed by C. de Lasteyrie and F. Delpech, some heightened with gum arabic, contemporary straight-grained blue morocco gilt by Simier (signed at foot of spine), central arms gilt of the Duchesse de Berry, with an elaborate border gilt of foliate and urn motifs, spine gilt in seven compartments, gilt turn-ins, gilt edges, occasional light spotting, upper cover scuffed at head with slight loss to surface

A fine collection of views of châteaux, from the library of the Duchesse de Berry and in a signed Simier binding.
Constant Bourgeios (1767-1841) was a pupil of David and produced several suites of topographical views of Europe. The present group are most likely taken from Receuil de vues pittoresques de la France (Paris, 1818-1819) and Voyage pittoresque à la Grande-Chartreuse, suivi de quelques vues prises dans les environs de ce monastère (Paris, 1821).
