Catalogue Note

Willyams, a chaplain and an artist, was present at the Battle of the Nile in which the French forces of Napoleon were beaten by Horatio Nelson. A number of the plates relate to this event but the majority are more accurately reflected in the title of the  second edition of this work which appeared in 1821 as A Selection of Views in Egypt, Palestine, Rhodes, Italy, Minorca, and Gibraltar (Atabey 1339; Blackmer 1814), with some slight differences in the plates.
