First edition, 2 volumes bound in one, folio (368 x 304mm.), 128 albumen prints (72+56; various sizes from 275 x 155mm. to 246 x 234mm.) mounted on thick paper, recto only, contemporary brown morocco gilt by M. Schlöps & Co. of Vienna, pictorial upper cover with raised gilt shield, crossed swords and spear, both covers with gilt metal onlays and corner-pieces with inlaid turquoise stone, spine in compartments with raised bands gilt, gauffered gilt edges, slight edge-fading to a few photographs, some metal onlays and cornerpiece missing from lower cover, a few minor scuff marks to binding
