Catalogue Note

In Chinese tradition, happiness ( 福), prosperity ( 禄), and longevity (shòu 寿) are the three attributes of a good life. It is not uncommon to find the auspicious shòu symbol on vanity cases by important jewellery houses of the early twentieth century.
