Ruby and hardstone brooch, Nardi, 1970s

Designed as a blackamoor, the head with carved hardstone, the tunic and turban enhanced with cabochon and circular-cut rubies, signed Nardi, case stamped Nardi.

Rubies of Burmese origin cannot be imported into the US. This piece may contain rubies of Burmese origin and therefore may not be able to be imported into the US. Nardi. Stamped 750 for 18 carat gold. Hardstone black with minor abrasions to surface. Rubies dark purplish red, characteristic inclusions visible to naked eye and under magnification, some chips and surface-reaching fissures. Minor abrasions and tarnish to metal consistent with age and wear. In good condition. Accompanied with a case stamped S Nardi.
