Description

  • Cizou
of bean shape with four shallow notches along its outer edge, the slightly concave top incised through the white slip with a panel enclosing a single peony spray with curling foliage reserved on a punched circled ground, an air hole pierced to the back, covered overall with a clear glaze stopping short of the flat, unglazed base

Condition

There is a 'T'-shaped surface crack approx. 1.5 in. (4 cm) by 2 in. (5 cm) long on the top panel of the pillow. There are extensive earth stains on the surface consistent with excavation.
