with rounded sides, painted on the outside with two spirited dragons flying amidst clouds in pursuit of a flaming pearl all below a narrow diaper border with four reserves of peaches, the interior with a slightly convex central medallion of a carp leaping from cresting waves, six-character Xuande mark within a double circle, with wood stands (5)

Provenance

A gift from Elbert E. Lawrence to the present owners on 3rd July 1950.

Condition

One bowl with a tiny frit to the rim, another to the foot ring and the interior with a few iron spots. The other with a chip to the foot and some small burst air bubbles to the interior. Both rims slightly warped.
