worked in satin stitch and couched gold-wrapped threads with two five-clawed dragons confronted on a flaming pearl beneath the character xian (to present), surrounded by bats and ruyi-form clouds, all above the terrestrial diagram emerging from a band of churning waves, enclosed within a rich-yellow brocade border, framed and glazed

Acquired in the 1980s.

Condition

Framed and glazed. The panel has been cut down. In overall good condition with expected scattered minor staining and loose threads. There is a small hole to the border. Not examined outside the frame.
