Description

  • gilt bronze
the four-armed deity seated in dhyanasana on a double-lotus base, the principal hands held in anjalimudra before the chest and the attendant arms flanking the shoulders raised in vitarkamudra, wearing a dhoti further embellished with beaded jewels and a shawl over the shoulder, the face with a benevolent expression, the tall headdress surmounted by an Amitabha Buddha, all supported by a pair of crouching attendant figures in an octagonal pedestal decorated with dragon scrolls, incised near the hem of the lotus base with a reign mark reading Da Qing Qianlong nian jingzao (Respectfully made in the Qianlong period in the Great Qing dynasty)

Condition

This finely cast figure is in very good condition with the exception of very minor scratches and rubbing to the gilded decoration, possible loss to the gilding of the figure standing on the right side of the base, and three drill holes to the top of the base which would have supported a mandorla (now missing). The base is open.
