Description

  • Cloisonne enamel, gilt copper
each standing four-square with its head looking forward, its trunk curled between the tusks, the striated white body caparisoned with a tasselled saddle rug woven on each side with a pair of bats hovering above steep rocks and a tempestuous sea, surmounted by a baluster vase decorated with leafy florets and ruyi heads

Condition

Both elephants are in very good condition with the exception of minor enamel shrinkage and characteristic pitting especially around the vases, and light rubbing to the gilded decoration.
