the exterior carved in low-relief depicting a bearded sage seated with his eyes closed, a figure behind shielding his face and furtively hauling a sack, all set in a landscape with gnarled willow trees and misty clouds
Condition
The brushpot is in general good condition with the exception of prominent vertical age cracks especially to the base and the rim, as consistent with age. There are minor nicks and wear to the extremities, the rim and the three feet. The bamboo is patinated to a reddish brown tone.
