the ewer of nautilus shell shape, supported on a knopped stepped foot, set with a large scroll handle, the fluted exterior painted with bérainesque and foliate motifs, the scallop-shaped basin raised on three spiral feet and similarly decorated

Condition

The ewer has restoration to the handle where it meets the body in the upper and lower sections, as well as a to its central section. There is an area of restoration to the rim to the left side of the handle and to the area above the splayed foot and to the knop above this. There is rubbing to the gilding in various areas. The basin has restoration to the first four lobes (from the right) of the scalloped rim, as does the 7th, 8th and 11th. There is also a number of areas of rubbing to the gilding to the basin.
