modelled seated with its legs crossed, its right hand holding a peach fruit and its left arm raised to scratch its head, depicted with large rounded eyes, pronounced jaw and incised fur, the base inscribed with two seal marks reading Jiangxi Jingzhen and Jinghua Guan zao respectively, wood stand

Condition

The monkey has minor chips, including a 0.3cm chip on the side under the right arm, a 0.7 x 0.2cm area to the left leg and other minute chips to the back. The enamels are lightly worn on the edges of the base and along the bottom where the piece is fitted onto a stand. There is wear (0.3 x 0.1cm) to the pink enamels on the nose. Apart from other minor surface wear, the monkey is in good condition.
