A FLAMBÉ-GLAZED GARLIC-MOUTH VASE QING DYNASTY, 18TH/19TH CENTURY
Estimate
8,000 - 12,000 GBP
bidding is closed
Description
- porcelain and wood stand
the pear-shaped body rising from a straight foot to a garlic mouth with a straight lip, the exterior covered with a rich raspberry-red glaze with milky-lavender streaks drizzling down from the cream-coloured rim, the base with a mottled mushroom-brown wash, wood stand
Condition
This vase is in good condition, but does have several chips at the footrim, which may have been caused on removing from the kiln. The glaze just above this area is quite roughly finished, which relates to this as well. There is some crazing to the glaze throughout and some minor pitting.
