Description

  • gilt-bronze and lacquer
seated in dhyanasana with the hands folded in dhyanamudra, wearing a dhoti tied over the left shoulder and embellished with ornate beaded jewellery, the head crowned by a five-leaf tiara, all supported on a tapering rectangular throne with drapery over the front and foliate supports at the corners, the rectangular cinnabar lacquer stand carved with leafy floral scrolls

Condition

The bronze is in good condition with the exception of the loss of the detachable flaming mandorla, minor nicks to the edges of the casting, light rubbing to the patination and loss of the vessel which would have sat in the hands.
