Description

  • gilt bronze
cast seated in dhyanasana on a double-lotus base, the principle arms clasped in namaskaramudra before the chest with two attendant arms raised in vitarkamudra holding a beaded necklace and foliate spray respectively, dressed in a dhoti further embellished with ornate jewellery, the hair gathered in a high knotted chignon surmounted by Buddha Amitabha, crowned with a five-leaf tiara, the base incised with a double vajra

Condition

There are minor areas of loss and small dents to the extremities and along the edges. The gilding is rubbed in areas such as the knees, cheeks and arms of the figure and the tips of the tiara. There is a 0.5 x 0.5cm area of minor dents on the hair on the reverse of the figure. The base has been re-attached. Apart from minor casting flaws, the figure is in good condition.
