Description
- porcelain and wood box
of square section, the curved sides rising from a straight foot to a waisted neck, flanked by a pair of lion mask handles suspending mock rings, one face moulded in relief with a figure holding a bow and an attendant beside, the other face with a foreigner and Buddhist lion, the two sides each similarly decorated with a basket of auspicious objects, all divided by vertical classic scroll borders in underglaze-blue, the rim and the foot encircled with keyfret band, Japanese wood box
Condition
This rare vase is in good overall condition with the exception of two small areas of restoration to two corners of the rim, a tiny chip to the nose of the lion mask handle, minor rubbing to the enamels and light glaze scratches.
