Description
- PORCELAIN
the baluster body divided into eight facets and surmounted by a short neck, painted with a scene from Sanguo Yanyi (Romance of Three Kingdoms) depicting a military official riding a horse and pointing his halberd at a lady with a basket by the banks, in a distance three attendants carrying flags and weapons shielding behind rocks, all below pendent lappets each enclosing a lotus bloom, the foot encircled with stiff leaves and the rim with a trellis border
Condition
The vase is in fair condition with the exception of rerstoration to a 3cm., wide crescent-shaped section of the rim and an associated 7cm., hairline rim crack, a hairline body crack encircling approximately a third of the foot, minor glaze firing imperfections including fritting around the rim and foot, burst glaze bubbles, iron-spot impurities and glaze pulls, and light glaze scratches.
