  • HUANGHUALI
of slightly waisted cylindrical form supported on a broad footring, deftly engraved around the exterior in a painterly style with a cluster of orchids wreathed by long slender leaves growing beside a shaped garden rock, inscribed on the reverse with a poetic inscription signed Xin'an and followed by the seal Yang, the well figured wood patinated to a warm chestnut brown colour

Condition

There is an old 7mm. chip outside the rim, a few typical dents and scratches around the rims edges and expected wear on the underside, but apart from this the brushpot is in good condition.

The brushpot is probably made by Yang Xin’an, a renowned carver in Hangzhou during the Daoguang period.
