Description
naturalistically carved in the form of the hollow trunk section of an aged prunus tree, with two attendant flowering branches sprouting from the knotted sides, further set with lingzhi carved in a paler vein growing near the recessed base, the lustrous stone of deep coffee-brown colour highlighted with russet shades and white streaks
Condition
The brushpot is overall in good condition. There is a repaired chip at the rim, with the original 1 cm. section of stone reaffixed, and a small 0.7 cm flake next to it (visible in the catalogue illustration). There are a few minor nicks around the rim and some natural cracks in the stone on the side and on the base. There are some expected light scratches on the footring.
