  • white marble, inlaid with yellow, red, grey, green and black marble
  • Italian, possibly Trentino, 18th century

Condition

Overall the condition of the marble is good with dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There are some chips to the edges of the marble. There are restored breaks running through the base. The font is made in three sections, metal pins are visible to the top of the middle section on the interior and there are sections of metal drain pipe running through the middle of the font. There are joints to the pietra dura inlay consistent with the technique. There may be some restorations and reattachments to the pietra dura. There is some yellowing to the marble at the top section of the font. Some of the corners of the moulding on the top section are reattached. There are a series or small metal pins to the top edge of the top section. There are a few inserts and restorations to the top of the section and inside the bowl. There is veining to the marble consistent with the material.
