Condition
Overall the condition of the bronze is good, with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There are a few areas of particular wear to the surface, including to the back of the neck on the proper right side, and to the side of the proper left arm. There are some scratches to the patina, including to the face and arms. The bronze is cast in sections and joints are visible, including to beneath the proper left foot (where there are one or two small lacunae). There is a slightly visible original casting plug to the middle of the upper back. There is very minor dark spotting to the patina. There are some white residues, including to some of the crevices, and a large chunk of dirt behind a piece of drapery on the proper right side.

Catalogue Note
This rare bronze unusally depicts Joan of Arc emprisoned, rather than in the more recognisable guise of a victorious warrior, clad in armour. A marble version of the model, location now unknown, was purchased by the French state in 1920.
