Condition
Overall the condition of the bronze is good. There is some minor wear and dirt to the surface consistent with age. There is an area of nicks and scratches to the left side of the plinth and there are a few minor nicks to the antlers and to the stag's snout. There are some traces of white pigment, including to the crevices, and a few small spots of greening. The silvering is tarnished throughout and some of the surface around it is blackened, consistent with the material (silver oxidises over time). There is wear to the silvering in some places. There are a few areas with moisture staining, including to the lower right corner of the plinth and to its top. There is some minor dark spotting to the patina, in particular to the plinth. Three of the coloured pastes/ stones around Laurentia's belt are lost. The bronze is cast in sections, and original casting joints are slightly visible at the base of the antlers and at the top of the stag's proper right front leg. There is minor wear to the wood base. The top of the base is inscribed in green pencil: 'Bronce nello 23... [illegible]'.
