Condition

Overall the condition of the bronze is good with wear and dirt to the surface consistent with age and handling. There are a number of nicks and scratches, particularly to the high points on the face. There is rubbing to the gilding throughout. There are small spots of greening in the crevices. There are a few small lacunae in the fur. There is a small casting fissure below the chin. The lower jaw was cast separately; two holes were drilled into it at both sides to mount candelabra. There is a horizontal metal bar mounted on the reverse for hanging, and there are two screws in the fur at the top, visible at the front.
