- Putto personifying Summer
- gilt bronze, on a circular lead terrasse and mounted on a mottled grey marble base
- South German or Italian, 17th century
Condition
Overall the condition of the bronze is good with some minor wear and dirt to the surface consistent with age. There is some rubbing to the gilding, including to he tip of the nose, elbows, proper right buttock and proper left knee. There is an area of nicks to the figure's lower half. There are a number of patches and plugs visible around the groin. There are some casting flaws, including two small lacunae to the top of the legs and a stable fissure to the proper right ankle.
The lead base has five nicks to the front edge and a loss to the edge at the reverse. There is some tarnishing and wear around the figure's feet. There are some remnants of glue to the back of the marble base.
