Condition

Overall the condition of the box is good with dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There are small losses to the intarsia wood throughout, particularly on the right and back sides. A few of the tesserae and panels have warped. There is an area of old glue restoration to the right side of the lid. There are numerous further smaller abrasions, chips and scratches. There is stable splitting to the wood consistent with material, including a large split to the underside. There is wear to the fabric lining of the interior. The key is lost.
