Condition

The canvas has not been lined. Ultraviolet light reveals notably clusters of small strokes of retouching in the red curtain and just below the paintings on the wall, a couple of tiny spots in the figure's face, and some minor strokes in her dark green dress. There is a tiny spot of paint flaking just above the figure's head (visible in the catalogue illustration) and faint craquelure visible primarily in the figure's dress. This painting is in good overall condition and its appearance could be further enhanced with a light surface clean. Held in a decorative gilt rococo-style frame.
